Dear Family!!!
This is an exert from the Sac-Spirit, the letter President Lewis sends out to the mission. (This is not to make me sound good, or better than anyone, it just describes an experience that we had this week.) We had been reminded of how blessed we are to have a temple so close to us and in our mission, and how we are not using them like we should. We shoul give our investigators tours to help them to progress
Temple Tours: I was very pleased to get a report that 26 people attended the temple tour on Saturday! Eight of you missionaries were there. I was asked to accompany two of our missionaries during a temple tour during the afternoon on Saturday. During the tour our missionaries invited their investigator to be baptized on the 22nd of this month and she said yes. They were wise enough to have arranged for their district leader to be there and he conducted the baptismal interview in the Mormon Center right after the tour. I was proud of those elders. It was very evident that the Spirit was there testifying to this young lady’s heart. Please remember that these tours are conducted every Saturday at 6:00 p.m. Whenever possible please invite your investigators to attend.
So yes, the story he told of the missionaries, well yes, that was me, and our District Leader Elder Jenks. We have been working with Tina for, well, ever since I have been here, and she comes to church and goes to lots of activities, is dating a member and everything, but has always bailed out of baptism. Mainly because she is scared to tell her father; he is not against it, he is just not religious she just merely wants his approval and support. She has always been too scared to tell him she wants to be baptized. So when we were reminded of how important the temple is, and how close it is to us, and how we need to start doing temple tours again, we decided to get her to a temple tour. So we had her and her boyfriend come, the 2nd counselor in our bishopric, Pres Hill (just got home from being a mission president in Europe), and that morning we were at the office and President and Sister Lewis were there, so we ate lunch with them and invited them to come with us to the temple tour, they said they would try to make it. And it just so happened we were going to be on exchanges with our District Leader, everything really just fell into place for us, the Spirit helped us out so much. So Tina came, and the tour was great, a little cold, but very spiritual. We had discussed inviting her to be baptized on the 22nd of this month. So we talked to her about eternal families and the blessings of the temple, we then invited her to be baptized and she said.... "you know I am not scared anymore." YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Elder Jenks then performed the baptismal interview, and she is ready. In the interview she said, "The temple made the difference." So we will be having a baptism on a very special day for me. :) She wasn't happy though, when we broke the news to her that I would be leaving the following week, but she is happy to be getting baptized. So that's how things have been, pretty good :) Just excited to be in the work of the Lord for the time I have left her in Cal-Sac :) Keep up the good work. Tell Elder Grover he is the best, and he is in my prayers, and to keep his head up, and that patience is a good thing and comes in very handy as a missionary. "Obedience brings forth blessings, Exact Obedience brings forth Exact Blessings" that is the key. It's been the big push in our mission right now, and we are seeing the blessings from it.
Love you all so much!!!!!!
Love Elder Grover
